A colourful antique Harlequin necklace from the late Victorian era featuring an assortment of coloured gemstones, including: green peridots, purple amethysts, orange citrines, red garnets and green tourmalines that range from approx. 0.20ct 1ct.
Harlequin jewellery is named after the colourful costumes of the 16th century comedy actors of the same name. The style was popular during the 19thCentury and saw wonderful pieces of jewellery abundantly decorated in coloured gemstones.
The stones are set in 18ct gold frames and are held by a new 14ct hook clasp at the end. Its in excellent condition and boasts a gorgeous variety of natural gemstones which look like a glistening rainbow around the neck.
