A wonderful Memento Mori inspired ring featuring a hand carved coral skull adorned with an old European cut diamond bezel set in each eye (approx. 0.20ct each).
Such macabre imagery was common in Memento Mori jewellery, which literally translates as Remember you will die. The morbid themes were not a celebration of death, rather a reminder to live your life well.
The skull is claw set in a close back, 18ct gold gallery with an ornate band, detailed with scrolling decoration. Its very striking and a grand statement piece.
