Description
A delightful Man in the Moon pendant from the early 20thCentury adorned with a large, cabochon tourmaline carved with a pleasant, smiling face on the front. It has a murky, green hue with a mystifying, luminescent glow that moves across the surface of the stone.
The Man in the Moon has been a fascination for cultures all around the world for many centuries and became a popular motif in jewellery in the 19thCentury due to an increased interest in astronomy.
The face is set in a 9ct gold frame and holds a concealed, three pence coin at the back, dated 1937. Its a wonderful find and highly collectable.
